Welcome to the Wakefield Schools Counseling Department

Who is the Paul School Counselor and what does he do?

Michael H. Tritter, M.Ed. in Counseling– School Counselor for grades K – 8

The role of the School Counselor is divided into four major categories:
curriculum, counseling, consultation, and coordination of programs. The following
describes each of these in more detail:

Guidance Curriculum - this includes classroom instruction,
interdisciplinary curriculum development, group activities, and parent workshops and

Responsive Services - this includes consultation, individual and small
group counseling, crisis counseling, referrals, and peer facilitation.

Individual Student Planning – this includes coordinatingactivities designed to help students plan, monitor, and manage theirown learning, as well as meet competencies in the areas of academic,career and personal / social development.

System Support  – this includes professionaldevelopment, consultation, collaboration, and teaming, and programmanagement and operations.
